What type of imagery works best?
The type of imagery you use on your website design depends on you and your business branding. All your website photography should be engaging and really focus on your brand values. Of course we'd all love to fill our websites with pages of dogs posing in coats, (hence the cute little face below) but it probably won't be relevant to your business. Unless, you are lucky enough to run a coats for dogs business (jealous)!
So let's say your business isn't a cute dog website, what imagery do you include?
Here at
Lollipop Rocks
we encourage all of our clients to get as many images of their work, or products, or business as they can. Potential customers are more likely to convert if they can see a true picture of the service you provide on your website. Of course we can always bulk this out with strong stock imagery. Our team at Lollipop Rocks have a good eye for great photography, and we will always try to get a good understanding of your business to ensure the stock imagery that we select is relevant to your branding style. We will also make sure we stay well clear of cheesy stock imagery that has been well over-used. The last thing you want is to be using the same stock imagery as all of your competitors!
Is there anything wrong with using stock imagery?
Absolutely not! We do always encourage you to have actual imagery of what you do, but don't forget that stock images have been taken by a professional photographer, so the lighting, angles, props are all great! Sometimes it can be tricky to find exactly what you are looking for, particularly if you have a niche business idea. We use stock photography across a range of our pay monthly website designs. Check out our
portfolio page
to see a few.
Do I need to hire a photographer?
Hiring a photographer is a great idea to get a great set of consistent shots for your website. That way the design of your website will look consistent across all website pages. Some photographers even offer short sessions with up to 10 photographs. These sessions are a great idea for websites or social media posts etc. Have a look around your local area and see what's on offer.
I want to get my shop online, what images do I need?
If you are looking to get your shop online, you will need at least one high res product shot for each item you are selling. Depending on the nature of your business, these could be provided from the manufacturer, images you have taken yourself, or you could get a photographer to take some images for you. If you are taking product shots yourself it's a good idea to invest in a lightbox, so you can get a really clear white background behind all your images. We find our
website designs
look so much stronger with products with consistent background colours - the design looks stronger and the products look better, making the overall outcome much more professional.
Can I have illustrations on my website instead of imagery?
Of course! If you have your own set of illustrations we can incorporate those within the website, no problem. If you are signing up to our Premium Plan we can include a small range of illustrations for your site at no extra cost to you. Check out some of our
portfolio page for some examples.
To sum up....
Whether your
pay monthly website design imagery is produced by yourself, a photographer or selected from stock, the most important thing is that the imagery reflects your business and remains true to your branding style. At Lollipop Rocks, we want you to be happy with the imagery in your website and we will work with you to make sure that happens.
