Feeling Festive in the Lollipop Rocks Home Office Today

Nope, this is not a picture of my Christmas tree. This one is far too co-ordinated and beautiful to be mine, But it is definitely a tree I aspire to decorate one day!

With only one week to go until Christmas arrives, we are getting fully into the festive spirit at Lollipop Rocks today. The logs are burning in the wood burner, there's a fairy light frenzy, there's tissue paper snowballs hanging from the ceiling and the tree is awash with a multi coloured explosion of baubles and tinsel. And of course Mariah is serenading us in the background. Ahhhhh, the joys of Christmas!

As a graphic designer I do firmly believe that less is more. But when it comes to Christmas I chuck that rule out of the window with an almighty force. When it comes to Christmas decor, if it's visible, it gets wrapped in tinsel. Everything has baubles dangling from it, there's fairy lights on every wall, we even have a huge cardboard gingerbread house. And the glitter! Oh the glitter! I let my toddlers loose with a big pot of glitter and a huge bag of pompoms....and the result is spectacular!

So you have a good picture there of what my house looks like right now. and consequently, my home office has had an equally enthusiastic treatment. But can we apply the same enthusiastic principles to our website design? Well the honest answer is 'Yes we could', but should we? Maybe not. Unusually for a graphic designer, I am not always concerned with white space, and I do think that when it comes to website design it's important to use as much available space as possible to get a clear, concise marketing message across. That does not necessarily mean throwing everything but the kitchen sink at it (to quote my Nanna), but consciously placing your messaging strategically across your website. And making it as easy for the consumer to find the information they need without having to really search for it.

If you have Christmas messaging, or Christmas promotions to run, get them on there in a good prominent spot, and why not add a few festive illustrations to it too? If there was ever a good excuse to indulge in some kitsch, fun design...Christmas is definitely the time of year for it.

One of the biggest benefits of what we do here at Lollipop Rocks is that we offer pay monthly website design. So we don't design a website for hundreds of pounds and hand it over to you to manage and host elsewhere. We host your website for you, so we always have access to update it for you throughout the year. So if you want to add in some Christmas banners, Easter promos, Black Friday sale messages, we are always here to help out with that. Keeping the cost to you as minimal as possible.

There are so many benefits to having a pay monthly website plan with Lollipop Rocks, especially if your business is just beginning or if you have a small budget to work with. We have a range of pay monthly website packages to suit a range of small businesses. If you would like to find out more get in touch.
